I've always been a creative person; always liked music and writing and fashion, but just recently (apart from these blogs), I can't actually take my mind of interior design!
I know it seems gay, but it's true! The minute I walk into a place, I just imagine how I would decorate it in my head- it's really quite distracting! I mean, people are talking to me about their latest boy troubles, and all I'm thinking about is changing their duck-egg wall to a more flattering beige shade! Haha.
I think it all properly started since I moved into my new flat. I just LOVE the design of it- it's all slanty and cute and is full of character- I'm going to miss it so much when I leave in a months time! :(
The white walls and blinds have also made me realise how much your surroundings can put you in a good mood- as soon as I wake up and see the bright sun shining through and my lovely decorated flat is just puts a massive smile on my face. (Easily pleased)
It's also made me realise how much I've abused my room at home. Being the owner of the only house in town amongst my college friends meant that my house turned into the 'party house'. I don't think I have to explain the state of the carpet if I tell you it had around ten girls getting ready there most nights of the week... state!
I'm so lucky I listened to my Mum and didn't get a white fluffy carpet like I wanted- although, with my friends love of fake tan, it would have brown like it is anyway after a few months!
Not only that, is has a HUGE hole in it after an incident with the hairdryer. What can I say... I'm accident-prone!
Along with most of my possessions being moved out to my new flat, it doesn't make for a cheery room!
Which is why I'm going to re-decorate when I get home, I'm literally itching to do it sooo bad! The thing is, I kind of have TOO many ideas. I mean, I think I'm gonna keep it to the brown/beige/white shades that I have now as I can't afford a new sofa and furniture, but I just can't work out what quantities I'm going to have them in- brown carpet or wall? White or beige sheets? It really is quite taxing...!
I also want to do a feature wall as it makes the room look so more modern. I CANT WAIT! haha
I also am desperate to get my hands on our hallway and office. When re-decorating earlier in the year, my Mum decided to paint the walls baby pink. I thought it was a bit bland, but not too bad I guess, but then... then... she decides that the carpet colour she's going to pick is burgandy... yes BURGANDY!!!
I mean, who the hell puts burgandy and pink together? Even a blind man wouldn't put pink and bloody burgandy together I tell you.
I was so excited when my Mum said the new carpets had been laid (told you, easily pleased), but then I went to look... and I gotta tell you, I kind of was nearly sick. haha, I mean, it's THAT bad.
I'm not the kinda person who can lie either so I was like 'Mum, are you kidding?' and she was all 'No, it's nice, blah blah.'
I really think she needs her eyes testing.
I was so embarassed when my friends first came round, I was like 'Oh, my Mum's redecorated' (with a facial expression that said and she's fucking ruined our house) and they were like 'Oh, it's pretty' (with a facial expression that said 'pretty damn fucking ugly'.
I felt bad for them that my house was abusing their eyes.
Haha, I am being harsh, but it is pretty mismatched! But anyways, point of me telling you all this is that I have a PLAN!!! Rents told me the other day that they plan to go on hols in July, so I've decided I'm gonna go on a rescue mission and re-paint.
Not only that, I'm gonna accessorize that bitch up so much that it'll look like it's from Ikea! It'll be like Gok's Fashion Fix for houses, the people at 60 Minute Makeover will be calling to sign me up (okay, I'm done now).
But yeh, basically I'm gonna make it look bloody amazing, instead of shit. My mum will probably hate it as she has a somewhat 'interesting' taste in things, but to be honest, I don't care. She'll thank me when people start complimenting it honestly, without an expression of disgust on their faces.
Haha. Bless my Mum, and her odd designs...
Anyway, check out some of my inspirations for my new room- I'm thinking classy/extravagant/expensive (but really from Matalan) chic...
:D
